Join our dynamic engineering team as a Dimensional Engineer, where you will play a critical role in designing and validating precision mechanical components and assemblies. Your expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis will directly influence product quality, manufacturability, and performance. This on-site position in Bengaluru offers the opportunity to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex dimensional challenges and drive continuous improvement in cutting-edge manufacturing environments.
• Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies by integrating functional, dimensional, manufacturing, and cost considerations.
• Conduct comprehensive 1D, 2D, and 3D tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure assembly feasibility, proper clearances, fits, alignment, and interchangeability.
• Perform statistical tolerance and variation analyses to predict dimensional deviations and enhance assembly robustness.
• Define, establish, and optimize dimensional and geometric tolerances aligned with design intent, manufacturing capabilities, product performance, and assembly requirements.
• Create, review, and refine engineering drawings incorporating GD&T principles in compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Establish datum structures, feature control frames, geometric controls, and tolerance schemes for precision components and assemblies.
• Apply DFMA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) principles to improve design efficiency, manufacturability, inspection feasibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Investigate and resolve dimensional, fit, clearance, alignment, and assembly issues through engineering analysis and statistical methods.
• Collaborate closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier, and Product Engineering teams to address dimensional and production challenges.
• Conduct root cause analysis on dimensional non-conformities and implement corrective design and tolerance solutions.
• Support prototype development, validation, production, and continuous improvement initiatives focusing on dimensional quality and product robustness.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in dimensional engineering, mechanical design, and precision component/assembly design.
• Expert proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5), including deep knowledge of datum structures, feature control frames, and geometric controls.
• Strong hands-on experience performing 1D, 2D, and 3D tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Demonstrated expertise in statistical tolerance and variation analysis techniques.
• Solid understanding and application of DFMA principles to optimize design and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or Inventor for mechanical design and drawing development.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, forging, sheet metal, welding, and assembly.
• Ability to analyze and resolve issues related to fits, clearances, alignment, and interchangeability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Experience working in Heavy Equipment, Off-Highway, Construction Machinery, or Industrial Products sectors.
• Familiarity with Drilling Tools, Drill Bits, or other precision engineering products.
• Exposure to 3D variation simulation and specialized tolerance analysis software/tools.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve dimensional issues.
• Knowledge of inspection, metrology, and dimensional measurement techniques.
• Proven ability to improve legacy engineering drawings and tolerance schemes to enhance manufacturability and product performance.
